Radiology

X-Rays

X-Ray exams are performed to help your physician make a more accurate diagnosis. The most common x-rays are:

  • Chest X-Rays: used to evaluate the lungs and heart
  • Bone X-Rays: used to evaluate fractures
  • Fluoroscopy: "Real time" x-rays to evaluate for digestive system diseased

These are a few of the x-ray studies performed here at CDP. CDP utilizes Computed Radiography and Picture Archiving System (PACS), which stores the digital x-ray image. The combination of these two systems allows the radiologist to view the images minutes after the x-ray was taken.

CT Scans

Computer Tomography is one of the most widely used diagnostic tool.  The Toshiba Aquillion 16 slice CT scanner was installed in November 2009. CT scans are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  CT scans are beneficial in trauma situations and to further investigate a patient's symptoms.

Ultrasound

An ultrasound exam is a diagnostic test that uses high frequency sound waves to produce images of soft tissue. CDP performs the following ultrasound procedures:

  • Amniocentesis
  • Abdomen
  • Obstetrics (OB)
  • Gynecological (Gyn)
  • Adult Echo
  • Pediatric Echo
  • Thyroid
  • Testicular

Bone Densitometry (DEXA)

DEXA scans measure bone mineral density (BMD) or bone mass. DEXA scans are used to help diagnose and treat osteoporosis. Osteoporosis affects both men and women.

EKG's, Holter, and Event Monitoring

  • EKG's are a 12 lead tracing of the heart.
  • Holter Monitor is used to record a person's heart beat for 24 hours.
  • Event Monitor is used to record a person's heart beat when they feel something abnormal in the chest.

EEG

EEG's are tracings of a person's brainwaves. EEG's can help diagnose seizure disorders, epilepsy and other neurological diseases.

Mobile Services

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) uses a powerful magnet, low-intensity radio waves and computer technology to create images of your body.  Doctors use MRI to look at the muscles, nerves, bones and the soft tissues in your body.  DMS Health Technologies services our facility with a 1.5T Phillips Intera Short Bore Magnet.

Trans Med

Trans Med provides ultrasound service for carotid and vascular exams.

DMS

Digital mammography is a state-of-the-art service provided by DMS Health Technologies. Digital mammography uses a safe, low dose of x-rays to image the breast tissue. The benefits of digital mammography includes: improved accuracy, lower radiation dose, quicker exam time, and increased comfort.

Avera McKennan

Avera McKennan's Mobile Nuclear Imaging department provides CDP with their expertise. Some of the Nuclear Medicine testing includes:

  • HIDA scan
  • Stress Test
  • Bone Scans
  • Lung Perfusion Scans
  • Thyroid Scans
