Dr. Judy Beumer

Dr. Judy Beumer joined Dr. Oey and Dr. Staub at Coteau des Prairies Clinic in August of 1988.  Dr. Beumer attended South Dakota State University where she attained a B.S. and M.S. in microbiology and a B.S. in Medical Technology.  She attended Medical School at the University of North Dakota and did her residency at UND Family Practice Center in Fargo, ND.  She is a Board Certified Member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, member of AOA Scholastic Honor Society, and a member of the Christian Medical and Dental Society.  She and her husband, Randy, enjoy outdoor activities including hunting, fishing and gardening.

 

 

 

 

 

 

   

Dr. David Kleinberg

Dr. Kleinberg moved to the area recently after retiring as a Naval Flight Surgeon. LCDR Kleinberg was born in Baltimore, Maryland and attended Towson Senior High School.  He graduated from University of Maryland, Baltimore County in Catonsville, Maryland, with a degree in Humanities and Education in 1978.  He earned a B. S. degree in Medicine at the University of Oklahoma in 1981, and earned a M.D. degree from the American University of the Caribbean in 1985.  Dr. Kleinberg completed residency in Family Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1988. 

LCDR Kleinberg began his military career in the Navy at NTC Great Lakes in 1968, completed Hospital Corps school and Field Medical Technician School after which he served in combat with the 3d Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment in the Republic of Viet Nam.  After release from Active Duty he served one year  with the Naval Reserve, and was transferred to the 5th Battalion, 20th Special Forces as a team medic before being sent to OCS where he graduated with Honor as a 2d Lieutenant in the Army Reserve.  After graduation from Physician Assistant school he served a one year residency for PA’s in general surgery at Franklin Square Hospital in Baltimore after which he attended medical school.

His Military Awards include a Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (2 awards), Navy Achievement Medal, (2 awards) and a Combat Action Ribbon.

His Professional Organizations include membership as a Fellow, American Academy of Family Physicians; Past President, Alonzo A. Towner Society (Physician Assistants); Past President, Phi Lambda Kappa, (Mu Delta Chapter); Treasurer, Society of U.S. Navy Flight Surgeons (3 YEARS); Past Master, Free and Accepted Masons, Wisconsin and California; American Medical Association; and Fellow, Aerospace Medical Association

LCDR Kleinberg and his wife Janet have two children, Rebecca and Rachel.  His hobbies and interests include farming, wood working, bluegrass banjo and Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

 

   

Dr. David L.T. Oey

David L.T. Oey, MD was born in Jakarta, Indonesia.  After graduating from high school he went to Australia after acquiring his matriculation to enter the University of Queensland in Engineering or Medicine.  He received as Indonesian Government scholarship to study abroad.  He went to Germany to study medicine and received his M.D. with Magna Cum Laude from the School of Medicine, the University of Munich, Bavaria, the West Germany.  Dr. Oey immigrated to Canada and did his rotating internship and residency in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  He received his ECFMG and LMCC certificates, and then practiced in general medicine and surgery in Manitoba.  In 1974 he was invited to Sisseton to see Coteau des Prairies Clinic and Hospital for possible relocation.  Today he is still with us!  He also met his wife Lori here.  Together they have five children, all graduates of Sisseton High School: Alexander of Marshal, MN; Theresa married to Dean Divine of Sioux Falls, SD; Rachel married to Scott Locy of Colorado, Springs, CO; Graham of Colorado Springs, CO and Brenna of Fort Leonard Wood, MO.

 

 

 

   

Dr. Linda R. Peterson

Dr. Linda R. Peterson, MD, FACOG has been with the Coteau des Prairies Hospital and Clinic since 2003.  She graduated from Augustana College Summa Cum Laude and from the University of South Dakota School of Medicine.  She completed her residency at Indianapolis, Indiana, at the Methodist Hospital.

Dr. Peterson has previously worked at Sioux Valley Clinic (formerly Bartron Clinic) in Watertown from 1982-2000.  She also taught school at Wyant, Nebraska from 1972-1974.  Dr. Peterson has one daughter, Rita who is 18 and one son, Corey, who is 13.  Also joining them are three cats, a dog, and a ferret.  Dr. Peterson enjoys sewing, singing, reading, bird watching, going to plays as well as spending time with family and friends.

 

 

 

 

   

Dr. David Staub

David Staub, MD has been with the Coteau des Prairies Clinic since 1976.  He had attended Pacific Lutheran University at Tacoma, WA where he studied chemistry and liberal arts.  He received his medical degree from the University of Washington, Seattle in 1973 did his residency at Rockford, IL from 1973-1976.  Prior to receiving his medical degree Dr. Staub taught English, math, science and agriculture and from 1967-1969 was a Peace Corps volunteer in Ethiopia. 

Dr. Staub is married to his wife, Lindy, who has her B.S. in Nursing, and they have three grown children.  He and his family participate in farming activities and re-vitalizing old homes, energy efficiency and healthy building practices, including designing and building concrete homes (www.TheAffordableHouse.com).  Other interests include cabinet building, reading, writing and teaching medical students.

 

 

 

 

   

Michelle Peterson, PA-C

Michelle R. Peterson, PA-C, was born and raised in Madison, MN.  After high school, she attended Willmar Vo-Tech and graduated as a Human Service Technician.  She then worked at the Madison Lutheran Home as a Medication Aid for six years.  After working there, she worked at REM in Canby, MN, for three years with mentally disabled adults. 

When her daughters were little, she ran a licensed day care center out of her home for three years.  During that time, she learned about the Physician Assistant profession and began college in Willmar, MN.  She graduated with an AAS degree in Biology and transferred to The University of Minnesota in Morris as a Biology major.  She was then accepted into the Physician Assistant program at USD Medical School in Vermillion, SD.  In July, 1999, she graduated from that program and began work in August, 1999, at the Wheaton Community Health Center. She worked as a Family Practice PA-C until October, 2007, when she joined the Medical Staff at Coteau des Prairies Hospital and Clinic, Sisseton, SD.

She is married to Doug Peterson and has two daughters.  Alex is attending college in Moorhead, MN, and Jamie is a Junior in High School at Wheaton, MN.  Her interests include her family, her patients, reading anything medical, riding motorcycle and traveling.

 

   
Andrew Arends, PA-C

Andrew Arends, who is a Certified Physician Assistant, has joined Drs.
Beumer, Kleinberg, Oey, Peterson, Staub, and Michelle Peterson, PA-C,  at
Coteau des Prairies Hospital and Clinic, Sisseton, SD.  He will begin seeing
patients at CDP Clinic on April 10th .  Clinic appointments  may be made by

Andrew, or Andy, graduated from Mt. Marty College, Yankton, SD, with a
Bachelor of Arts degrees in Biology and Chemistry.  He earned a Master of
Arts in Biology with an emphasis in the medical sciences from the University
of South Dakota.  He then graduated from the University of South Dakota
Physician Assistant Program in 2000.

Since then, Andrew has practiced hospital-based Internal Medicine and as a
Family Practitioner. 

He is interested in the outdoors, such as hunting, fishing and boating.  He
also holds a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and is an accomplished pianist.
